Backyard bird/squirrel shooting in california?

Is it legal to shoot birds or squirrels in one's backyard in California??

I've searched about the laws but I can't find them

oh and I use a break barrel pellet rifleBackyard bird/squirrel shooting in california?
first, it is illegal to discharge any firearm in the city limits. Same is true for air guns. Second, killing certain non game birds is illegal in the state. Next, never kill an animal that you are not going to eat. It is not ethical. Unless it is a pest animal that is dangerous, or destructive. When I lived in the peoples republic of kalifornia, I used to set up a heavy backstop at the end of a long hallway in my house, set up a paper target in a pellet trap and shoot down the hall with my bb or pellet guns. Technically I was breaking the law. But since no one knew, and the pop of the airgun couldn't be heard outside my house...........LOLBackyard bird/squirrel shooting in california?
Are you kidding me..... If your living in any of the cities...you won't be permitted to discharge a firearm and that includes a pellet or BB gun..... Also, I'd be alittle worried about being out in the backyard with a gun and having someone see me.... The next thing your going to know is when the SWAT team shows up..... If your way out of town and don't have anyone close, then it's worth a try... CA jails can't be that bad...lol
dont shoot the birds but the squirl shoot all you want.in fla they sell a lisence and on it it says residential hunting lisence.quese that means you can hunt your resident.just kidding.but not about the birds though
Local regulations will determine if you can legally discharge an air rifle in your back yard. Additionally you must use a .20 caliber (5mm) or larger air rifle for tree squirrels and you must obey all season and bag limits. If you're in Los Angeles County you may not take tree squirrels with an air rifle. Currently there is no open season in several counties in Southern California. Upland game birds may not be taken with an air rifle (except turkey). Migratory game birds may not be taken with an air rifle. In condor habitat non-game birds (that would be pest birds not protected by state or federal law) may not be taken with lead ammunition, that would exclude lead pellets. You would also be required to have any requisite licenses to take game or eradicate pests animals (varmints). This information is available on the California Department of Fish and Game website.
i would check you local laws about using a gun in city limits.
