Yesterday when i was driving i saw a black squirrel bolt across the street. the van in front of me braked, only to slow down and run over the back half of its body with the back tire. as the story is very disturbing i find it amazing how even though the back half of body was paralyzed it was still sprinting on this paws. How can an animal be struck but continue on with no hesitation?How is this possible for a squirrel to do this?? (Sad)?

It is sad ... millions of animals are hit by vehicles worldwide and killed.
I don't think the driver did this purposely. Unfortunately the squirrel probably took awhile to expire.
It was already scared when it tried to cross the road ... it was in great pain and running on what was previously stated as adrenaline.
