What is the best way to cook squirrel?

I know this sounds silly, but one of my friends from Kentucky swears that squirrel is one of the tastiest foods.





How does this work? Do you fry it, broil it? How do you even catch those darn things!?What is the best way to cook squirrel?

shoot their left eye out with a 22 pistol, about 4 will make a good mess. Skin or dress cut up Old squirrel soak in salt water and par boil, then roll in flour, salt and pepper and pan fry in lard. Make cream gravy, and have biscuits. Young squirrel no need to par boil.





Be sure and call me. I will bring the fried potatoes.
bread it and fry it like you would chicken and yes it is really good.

you are better off you just shoot it a .22 works great.
squirrel is great food. my ex's uncle used to hunt them in Ga and her aunt would cook them up. treat them like most other meats.
I preferr fried.

Squirril seasoned with a dry rub, salt, pepper, garlic powder... etc... roasted in the oven..... take the dripping and make a gravy for em and serve it with bisquits.... best way I have ever had em.

Why cook it?
Fry it if it's young boil it or bake it if it's old. You will need to shoot them with a 22. Don't try to catch them they bite.





Oh, while your skinning it check out the crotch hair. If it's gray it's an old squirrel.

They are twitchy and often appear to have committed a crime. I might handcuff one if it let me get close enough.

What's the difference between a woodchuck and a squirrel?

*It is not illegal to own a squirrel. I own a rehab center at my house. I have a male squirrel that I hand raised. He is slightly handicapped and could not be released. I have had him 7 years. That is old for a squirrel. Booger is his name. You can not pet him like a cat or dog. I must wear gloves. He does not understand that when he plays his sharp teeth hurts human skin. He rides on my back. He occupies a huge cage with my dwarf male bunny. They get along great.





Booger goes down and spends time with Gort. They each have their own levels. A squirrel is not meant to be a pet. They can bite and hurt you. They require fresh bark each day as part of their diet. You must do this all year long. Care is not easy and I would not recommend this to anyone. Look for other choices. u live in Kansas? well ucan look it up in ur states animal code google it. here in california its illegal. i just feed them and i feed the birds too
i don't think you would want too, they are cute and everything but will panic if a human tries to hold one
